[Driving to and from a Charles’ recital with Charles and Alice]
Alice: Ow! Ow! Why is this seat squeezing out all my space so hard?
Dad: Well, we’re unlikely to get a replacement tonight. Mom and I will look at getting a new one at some point.
Alice: I don’t like it but I must say it is a sweeeeeeet ride.
Charles: That means no new seat for you.
Alice: Yes, but it is a sweeeeeeeet ride.
[later, after Alice has gone grumpy and we’re passing a house with a major league set of Christmas lights]
Dad: Look, Alice, at all those lights on that house1!
Charles: They are going to have one major electric bill.
