While I was gone

The kids did some growing while I was out in California.

  • Charles can ride Corwin’s bike by himself at high speeds. He was still struggling without training wheels when I left but he was a regular speed demon by the time I got back. Mom has started getting him to do the 2 mile loop in the park with her, riding his bike while she goes on foot (I am not sure “run” is a completely accurate description).
  • Alice can now drive the Barbie car by herself. She was motivated by Charles’ advance because
    • Charles wasn’t available as a chauffer
    • Alice could try to run him over while he was on the bike

The two of them now zip around on the local roads, which fortunately is very low traffic. And Alice didn’t know everything when I got back — I was able to teach her about reverse, which she decided was a neat feature. Very useful when she ran in to terrain features in her efforts to smash Charles with her car.

Corwin was slacking, as he is still not quite 5 feet tall (59½ inches).
